During a speech at Sorbonne University in Paris, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his concerns about the challenges Europe is currently facing in terms of security, economy, and culture. He emphasized that Europe is being surrounded by various powers, both at its borders and within its own territory.
Macron also highlighted the growing capabilities of certain regional powers that are not constrained by any inhibitions. Furthermore, the French President pointed out that the current European economic model is no longer sustainable in the face of competition from the United States and China.
He stressed that Europe’s values and culture are under threat, as the continent is engaged in a delicate battle of narratives, values, and imagination. It is worth noting that this speech took place seven years after Macron’s initial address on Europe at the same university.
