Xi Jinping and the implementation of the innovation-driven development strategy in China

In response to changes in the external environment, China pursued a more proactive strategy of opening up and worked to boost reform and development with high-standard opening up. As a specialist on China issue, there are many China’s economic prospects and new opportunities will China’s economic development bring to the world economy.

The year 2023 is the first year to comprehensively implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and this year also marks the tenth anniversary of the “Belt and Road” initiative.  In this context, Chinese President “Xi Jinping” pointed out that “China’s economy is a vast ocean rather than a small pond. Sometimes the ocean is calm and sometimes rippling, while the waves can destroy the small pond, never the vast ocean”.

China, as the world’s second largest economy, has been an important driver of global opening up, a source of stable force for global economic growth, a vital market full of business opportunities for all countries, and a positive contribution to global governance reform.  China has not only stabilized its economy, but also works hand in hand with its trading partners to maintain the stability of industrial chains and global supply chains, which is a strong support for the prevention and control of the pandemic and the recovery of the global economy.

The meetings of the two sessions in the new year 2023 went to confirm that China will continue to raise the banner of cooperation and win-win high, mobilize the strength of solidarity and commitment to expand openness, and use the self-motivating force of economic growth and returns resulting from deepening reform and openness to make more contributions to the recovery of the global economy, and provide more development opportunities around many countries of the world.

China has accelerated the establishment of a new development pattern and focused on promoting (high-quality development). In addition, China continues to expand its opening up to the outside world, firmly protects the multilateral trading system, opposes trade protectionism, and contributes to the promotion of global common development and the recovery of the world economy.

The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China demonstrated the Party’s determination and confidence in leading China to achieve high-quality development that is driven by innovation, balanced, green, open and inclusive. China’s development will help the rest of the world to effectively deal with global challenges.

The “Belt and Road” initiative remains one of the contents of the outside world’s attention during the current two sessions 2023. Here, China is actively promoting high-quality joint construction of the “Belt and Road” initiative, and will continue to enhance global economic confidence.

China has rich experience in governance, and the two sessions this year 2023 also became a window for the outside world to observe China’s governance in the meetings of the two sessions. Also, during the 2023 sessions, China has putted forward plans for future economic and social development.  The Chinese economy is expected to contribute one-third of global growth in the next few years, and this is important for both China and the world.  It is my belief that the meetings of the two sessions of 2023 will attract the world and that they will promote the high-quality joint construction of the “Belt and Road”.

During the ongoing “two annual sessions” of 2023, Chinese President “Xi Jinping” stressed the need to accelerate the implementation of the innovation-driven development strategy, saying, “Accelerating efforts to achieve self-reliance and strengthen them further in the field of science and technology is the path that must be taken by China to advance high-quality development”. This will definitely promote China’s opening up to the whole world.

Here we find the commitment of the Chinese state, when strengthening its strength in the field of science and technology, to share its technology with partners around the world and cooperate to improve the global governance of science and technology.

The innovation-driven development strategy in China put forward at the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China has led China to join the ranks of innovators in the world, and has been successful in various fields.

Moreover, China has coordinated its innovation plan and strategy for rejuvenating China through science and education, which focuses on development based on progress in science and technology, and its workforce development strategy, which focuses on nurturing high-quality talent. Now the country is home to the largest pool of research and development workers in the world.

Through the multilateral mechanisms of the Chinese state, such as: (the Belt and Road Initiative, the regional comprehensive economic partnership), China’s achievements in the field of science and technology have provided new options in the fields of fifth generation communications, biomedicine and many fields, while also providing impetus for global economic growth.
