“We cannot allow the World to plunge into a new Cold war,” said Indonesian President Joko Widodo in an interview with the French newspaper “Le Figaro” on the eve of the G-20 summit in Indonesia.
The President of Indonesia expressed his position as follows:
– The situation is obviously very complex and full of challenges.
– The G20 brings together the Great Powers that stand up for their interests, and now we have to add the energy crisis, financial problems in a pandemic, rising cost of living.
– We must find concrete cooperation to support the Global economy.
– All the countries of this G20 are defending their interests, but it is important to keep in mind the current energy crisis, financial problems, the pandemic, the rising cost of living, the conflict in Ukraine, which is further dividing the planet.
– We are facing a crisis, and it is multi-level – from ‘energy’ to ‘food’. The fate of millions of people around the world is at stake.
– The G20 must achieve concrete results.
– I recognize that the situation is very difficult, and now more than ever it is necessary that the leaders of the G20 show wisdom and a sense of responsibility.
– Great Powers should respect different opinions and work with developing countries. It’s about common interests. Developing countries need technology, investment, and in the end it is also in the interests of developed countries.
– The recovery of the world economy will not happen if all the leaders do not work together.
– The G20 summit will be a test to see if it is still possible to maintain international cooperation in such a difficult situation.
