Optimistic on a high-level Sino-US meeting in Alaska, USA

China and America are two significant economies and are contributing to the global economy heavily. Two positive energies can turn the world into a paradise and comfortable for humankind to live. However, last few years, a confrontation and tension existed between them, which has spoiled the geopolitics and fears of the Cold War era. Significantly, the Trump Administration has taken steps to confront China openly, and China was left with no option except to reciprocate. Trump-Administration initiated a trade war against China. China tried its best to avoid and delayed its reaction, allowing the US to revert back to the right track. But President Trump insisted on countering China, and finally, China has also reciprocated.

Tension on the South China Sea was another hot topic; the Taiwan issue and the Hong Kong situation also aggregated the existing tension.

Although, President Joe Biden was the architect of anti-China policies under various Administrations and part of the policy-making process. But he is well matured, well mannered, and equipped with diplomatic etiquettes and may not react adversely. He might be very strict, but polite and diplomatic in behavior.

In a major breakthrough, senior officials of two countries will meet on March 18, 2021, in Alaska, USA. The meeting will be attended by Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his counterpart Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. It will be the first high-level in-person contact amongst the US and China under the Biden administration. White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and China’s top diplomat, Yang Jiechi, will also be present in this meeting.

Both sides are expected to cover a broader range of the issue and will address each other’s concerns.  Blinken called the meeting “an important opportunity to lay out in frank terms many concerns the US has with Beijing’s actions,” he told a hearing of the House of Representatives Foreign affairs committee. The Chinese side also gives a weightage to this meeting and terms it as an opportunity.

As a matter of fact, The US is still in a cold-war era mindset and trying to gangs up against China. But the world is the witness of the adverse impact of the cold-war on many countries, and public opinion is not in favor of any more cold war. Even President Joe Biden’s administration failed to seek support from most of its traditional allies to gang up against China.

The world has changed already, especially when youth are looking forward to peace, equality, and justice. They believe and struggle for a better tomorrow.  Most of the nations are struggling for better opportunities, openness, globalization, and international peace, development, and prosperity.

Pandemic has pushed the whole world into recession and depression. The Most developed country, superpower, the US, has become the worst-hit nation. The US has lost its leadership role in Pandemic and even could not face it within its own territory. Pandemic has exposed American capabilities.

The US has tried and spent all efforts to contain China, Counter China, and resist China’s rise, but failed utterly.

I think the scholars, intellectuals, politicians, and think tanks,  have understood well that China can not be coerced anymore. On the other hand, China consistently following its policy of peacefull developments. China has set aside all confrontations, disputes, and differences and focused only on economic developments, leading to social developments. China has reached a stage of development where no other country can pressurize it or coerce it.

I believe both sides understand each other’s capabilities, strengths, and potential may conclude that confrontation is no longer beneficial for either side. I am optimistic that they may explore the opportunities of cooperation, collaboration, and develop a positive working relations, where they can support each other during this meeting. They may discuss global issues like Environment, Pandemic, Natural disasters, Poverty, international peace, and stability.

The whole world is keeping their eyed on this meeting and may celebrate if something positives come out of this meeting. It is an opportunity to make the world as a whole safe, happy, and prosperous. It is desired to avert any mishap or misadventure or any further confrontation. Best of luck to humankind!
