A Peronist GPS for a world in disarray

Is a key element to have a GPS for a government in the 21st century, a VUCA World -Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous-, with a more multipolar conformation, with new actors and new discussions, and regarding this, the Justicialista political movement could have an advantage: its own DNA as a Latin-Americanist and Non-Aligned movement, which is reflected in one of its doctrinal foundations: The Third Position-La Tercera PosiciĆ³n-, which must be renewed for tactical reasons, but whose essence is strategic, therefore always vital.

Another strategic Peronist compass is its political mantra that argues that “organization overcomes time“.

Peron and his political movement at the time addressed the main challenges of their era, and as we observe have certain parallels with the present times, following these strategic principles.

Therefore before the end of the Second World War Peronhad commissioned the creation of the National Postwar Council -Consejo Nacional de Posguerra-, a Think Tank and Planning Agency which had a key role for the pioneering Peronismo to develop its public policies that led to economic impulse with social justice, in line with a foreign policy of autonomic features, not aligned, which sought to establish friendly ties with all emerging nations and peoples of the world.

This council had its resonance even nowadays, in one of the most outstanding early measures of Alberto Fernandez, the commissioned of an Economic and Social National Council.

This type of initiative is pertinent to be emulated, this type of initiatives with a plural and multidisciplinary vision and based on the social consensus of the actors, will be fundamental for us to face our challenges of the time.

In the process of assessing the first year since the government of Alberto FernĆ”ndez took office and looking in retrospective -and foresight- ,itā€™s interesting to note that this great political movement as Peronismo is, realizing an extrapolation, today faces -as in its origins- a crossroads in the world order.

The modern Peronismo faces the eve of a new world order that emerged after a great historical process, such as a great war or economic crisis, as in the case of firstborn Peronism with the bipolar order (USA vs Soviet Union) that emerged after the Second World War. Continuing the extrapolation, the present Peronist leadership is already facing the sketches of the new post-covid-19 world order marked by the strategic competition between the United States and China, which marks a new process of binarization and transition of world politics and a deteriorated global economy that has shown all the shortcomings of the World-System, as well as many “ideal countries” previously held as examples to be followed ostensibly.

As the patterns of the Western world order of 1945 and 1991 weaken, new tensions will arise: geopolitical, as well as social and economic (due to the new modalities of capitalism of the 4th industrial revolution, climate change) where all types of society will be held under discussion.

The present international stage presents great challenges, but also great opportunities, today new winds blows at the global and regional level:
Next year Latin America and South America will experience an electoral race (a true marathon) that will surely shape a new regional political map that perhaps will be more favorable to Peronismo. The neoliberal and neo-conservative tendency in the region is in decline; letā€™s remember the MAS wining the presidential elections in Bolivia, the referendum for constitutionals reforms in Chile, the hard blow to Bolsonarismo in the November local elections in Brazil.

When the right ideas are combined with the right actions, change is inevitable
Strategic and transformation al leadership combines strengths and opportunities; letā€™s hope that the changing tides of the Post Covid Era find us following the Peronists precepts of Unity, Organization and Solidarity.
