Pandemic Recovery: The Economic Exorcism

Since last millennia, the advancements of human endeavor expressed via entrepreneurial productivity always displayed one core fundamental principle towards existence of any enterprise “achieve success via extreme value creation and not value manipulations”. Today, pandemic recovery, across the world, has economies openly visible like stripped naked fat bellies in bubble baths, indigested freshly printed currencies, despite vomiting still declared winners. Suddenly, awakening on such possessed behavior of creating hologramic success, the pandemic recovery awareness is aggressively engaged in its own exorcism to fix hallucinated economies.

Heal and get down to real hard-core business of value creation is the loud call of the day.

The current measurements indicators are foggy and blind on real productivity, performance and profitability now becoming proof for collapsing infrastructure now appearing as normalcy. When a world believes that missions to Mars will save humanity, convinced a six months long one way travel stuffed inside the space of a ‘washing-machine’ will make us erase our sins on nature or purify our polluted minds, a new revolutionary thinking urgently needed. Mind must come to grips to differentiate good and bad. The bright light promised in the tunnel must not always be an approaching train, rather a new passage toward new brighter thinking.

Economic Recessions, Depressions and Compressions across the world are now squeezing truth; whispering about such still considered a taboo, while frontline economic development leadership rewarded despite lack of competency, citizenry falling short on skills and nations losing grip on global competitiveness and exportability, and trade-wars flourish. The familiar scenes repeated by nations across the world. Today, national mandates on upskilling with bold debates becoming mandatory.

Currently, in the deep silence and fog of chaos, no other sector is as neglected as Small Medium Business Economy. Eliminated, primarily for being too small to fit election podiums, or simply not rich enough to hide behind the bushes of the tax-free heavenly paradises, now pandemic recovery awareness, working like an exorcism on such possessed behaviors.  With some 200 nations in the race, 10,000 cities struggling and a billion workforces displaced critical testing of frontline leaderships of all gatekeepers of economic development s is in question. Start with a solid plan for the next 1000 days, systematically but very wisely.

The critical test: If any nation wishes to conquer ‘national digitization’ as a critical strategy, test any top ten public sector leadership, any top ten presidents of major trade associations or chambers of commerce, and any top ten political leadership on frontline economic developments. Results will speak volume. In response, ask some most difficult questions.  Is there truly a national stage to discuss such critical topics boldly? Is there any understanding on national mobilization of entrepreneurialism to combat such challenges? Is there any plan to assemble new teams and new leadership on such deployments? Answers may provide direction and possibly desire to seek out right blue prints and pragmatic deployment models.

The Forbidden Paths of Prosperity:
Once trails of silence discovered, so are the other hidden realities; forbidden are some of the following topics for the brave and adventurous leadership to tackle pandemic recovery.
Why not create a 10-year tax-free plan for all SME under USD$10 Million in turnover. Eliminate all fees and unnecessary paper work, make telecommunication and exportability costs subsidized, but let them grow, even charge them all this in taxes but much later… current knowledge base demonstrated by National Ministries of such departments critically missing special skills.

Why not make all economic development and exportability agencies, plus all Trade Associations and Chambers of Commerce within a nation under intense upskilling programs to become deeply conversant on new global age and digitization issues. After all, despite high rise buildings and fancy offices, across the world the intriguing divides; rich nations or poor nations, agricultural belts or industrial complexes, major divides are now only between ‘digitally advanced superior nations’ and ‘not so advanced inferior paper-pushing nations’ all due to lack of skills and mental blocks to accept digitization. Currently, any discussion anywhere in the world with Public Private Sector on digitization for fears of exposing 50% redundancy and 50% lack of competency forbids such dialogue.  Go try it.

Why not accept global entrepreneurialism on the march, as some billion new fresh entrepreneurs are emerging from Asia alone. When was the last debate on this topic in your nation? The collapses of B-School education avoid such discussions, as nations despite armies of MBA failed in entrepreneurialism. This is where the global balance of prosperity will be deciphered.

Why not, embrace futurism with futuristic literacy – change policies to allow space to fit nouveau entrepreneurialism, such thinking erases the fears of robots, as humans should only fear their own incompetency. Enforce national workforce to become skilled experts with digital platform economies and not just social media. However, and most importantly, such ideas are not new funding dependent rather they are deployment hungry and execution starved. Nevertheless, such revolutionary thinking calls for bold leadership; remove the first person for saying they have no new funding to bring change. Remove the next person for saying they are too busy and have no time to bring change.

Well, a bright future awaits or the other options are going back to exorcism.

The rest is easy
