An outbreak of Coronavirus has challenged humanity and seems to be turned as the biggest disaster in the known history of human beings. Current status of COVID-19 is the total number of Infected: 308231, Deaths: 13067, Recovered: 95826, Number of countries reported having Covid-19: 188. The figures are subject to change by the time you are reading this article.
As a matter of fact, almost the whole world is a victim of the outbreak and some of the countries have not reported deliberately or have no capacity to detect it. China was the first country faced this outbreak (there is controversy about the origin of Covid-19, as there are several pieces of evidence available regarding its existence in the US), but has already overcome almost. Life is resuming to its normal routine.
Currently, the worst-hit countries are Italy, Iran, France, and Spain. The spread rate and fatality rate is quite high in these countries. While the UK, the US, Germany are also among the countries with rapidly growing in a number of new cases registered.
It is a new virus and there is no Cure, no Medicines, and no Vaccine developed yet, only precautions are the tool to contain it. Isolation, limiting social contacts, intake of appropriate food to enhance immunity, enhanced hygienic practices, etc., are the best possible solutions.
China is the only country, has won its fight against COVID-19. Chinese practices can be used as guidelines to control over it. Fortunately, China is already helping all other nations in sharing its experience and supplying medical equipment like Masks, Ventilators, Testing kits and hygienic materials like sanitizers and etc.
Depending on the seriousness of the situation, countries are implementing partial or complete lockdown. With partial or semi-lockdown, the spread of the virus may not be brought under control so quickly, but with complete lockdown, the social life is halted and created panic and unrest. Some of the nations having a comprehensive welfare system may manage the basic life of their citizens, but most of the countries may disturb the normal life of their citizens with the complete lockdown.
Fear and panic are very much normal, and people are buying grocery and preventive items like Masks, sanitizers, tissue papers, vitamins, food supplements in large qualities and are keeping enough quantities for the next couple of months. Keeping such supplies for a couple of moths is happening all over the world, but in the UK and US, panic is much more visible. The supply and demand for necessary items is out of balance and shops are facing a severe shortage in the UK and US. Customers are fighting and with each other and some cases of lootings were also reported. Lawlessness has been witnessed in several places too.
Especially, the panic and fear in the US have surpassed the rest of the world and people are buying guns and ammunition in fear of civil war. Sales were especially increased in North Carolina and Georgia, which experienced a leap of 179% and 169% respectively. Most of the people were opting for target guns and there was a big demand for AR-15 semi-automatic assault-style rifles. Due to loose legislations on the purchase of guns, amid the rush to stockpile lethal weapons, there were concerns for safety. A sudden increase in guns and rifles in domestic homes could put everyone at risk through a lack of safe storage.
I believe it is a natural disaster and beyond the control of human beings, especially beyond the control of any individual nation. It is time to show solidarity with humanity and respect humanity. Every one individual or a nation or a country must play its part in the responsibility to rescue human life. The outbreak is non-discriminatory and do not differentiate between race, religion, color, nationality, ethnicity, etc. We should also observe no discrimination among human beings and avoid any politics, just save human life irrespective of race, religion, ethnicity, etc. Developed nations and big countries have more responsibilities and should play a bigger role.
