A few days ago the US top diplomat best described the ruling elite in Iran as “Wolves in sheep’s clothing.” He hit the nail on the head and said that some believe that President Rouhani and foreign minister Zarif are moderates. The truth is, they are merely polished front men for the Ayatollah’s international con-artistry. Their nuclear deal didn’t make them moderates; it made them wolves in sheep’s clothing.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo addressed a schedule meeting with Iranian-American community in Regan’s Library on July 22.
One of the highlights of his address was focusing on the regime terrorism. Secretary Pompo said that just earlier this month an Iranian “diplomat” based in Vienna was arrested and charged with supplying explosives for a terrorist bomb, scheduled to bomb a political rally in France. The regime and its allies in terror have left a trail of dissident blood across Europe and the Middle East. Indeed, our European allies are not immune to the threat of the regime by terrorism.
At the same time they’re trying to convince Europe to stay in the nuclear deal, they are covertly plotting terrorist attacks in the heart of Europe, he said.
Mr. Pompeo’s remarks refer to the last month failed terror plot meant for a huge rally of Iranian opposition hosting a colorful crowd including many former US officials. It was stopped at last minute.
The Paris attack was foiled by security forces in France with the help from their German and Belgian partners. Timing of the plot was significant because Hassan Rouhani was scheduled to visit Austria the next day. The Iranian diplomat stationed in Vienna, Assadollah Assadi, who masterminded the plot was caught red handed after passing the explosives and detonator to an Iranian born Belgian couple to carry out the attack.
Referring to the regime corruption Secretary Pompeo said that the level of corruption and wealth among regime leaders shows that Iran is run by something that resembles the mafia more than a government.

Dismissing the myth of “moderation” in Iran, he said that despite the regime’s clear record of aggression, America and other countries have spent years straining to identify a political moderate; it’s like an Iranian unicorn!
Myth of moderation and reform in Iran
Hassan Rouhani emerged in Iran’s political horizon as yet another “moderate” clergy six years ago. Some in the West fell for the same trick. The Iranian theocratic regime should be credited for playing tricks with the world. Rouhani appeared with his infamous “charm offensive” and at one point during the 2015 nuclear deal negotiations-Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)- was portrayed in the western media as champion of peace. Rumor has it that following the nuclear deal with the regime, his foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif was on the short list of candidates for Noble Peace Prize.
The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) has maintained that the ruling regime in Iran is a bunch of thugs running the country and there is no difference between them. There are no “moderates” or “hardliners.” All of them are cut from the same cloth and Rouhani and Ali Khamenei follow the same brutal mind set.
It seems that Rouhani’s smiling face has surpassed its sale by date. At the behest of Khamenei, he removes the mask and shows the ugly truth. He is not a “moderate.” Rouhani wrote in his memoirs that when he was the top negotiator in 2004 nuclear discussions with the European trio-Brittan, Germany and France- “deceived” the three.
Rouhani warned the US that Iran could shut down international oil shipments in the strategic Strait of Hormuz if Washington continued to provoke Tehran.
“We have always guaranteed the security of this strait,” Rouhani told diplomats in the Iranian capital. “Do not play with the lion’s tail; you will regret it forever.”
He also added: “Americans should know that peace with Iran is the mother of all peace.” Rouhani told a group of diplomats in the Iranian capital: “Likewise a war would be the mother of all wars.”
Should the world be worried that he might make good on his promise and go to war with the US? The final word in the regime comes always from the very top. Khamenei has always maintained that Iran will never go to war with the United States. What is actually unfolding is a page from the regime’s old play book. Now that the curtains have dropped, the only way out for the regime is to bluff. The only difference this time is that the US administration is calling its bluff and sending a strong message that its actions and words have dire consequences.
President Trump tweeted all-caps: “To Iranian President Rouhani: NEVER, EVER THREATEN THE UNITED STATES AGAIN OR YOU WILL SUFFER CONSEQUENCES THE LIKES OF WHICH FEW THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE EVER SUFFERED BEFORE,” Trump tweeted after returning to the White House from a weekend at his golf resort in Bedminster, New Jersey. “WE ARE NO LONGER A COUNTRY THAT WILL STAND FOR YOUR DEMENTED WORDS OF VIOLENCE & DEATH. BE CAUTIOUS!”
Iran is boiling in dissent and people stop at nothing but “regime change.” It may be one of those rear moments in Iran’s history that the US government is fully committed to stand with Iranian people in their quest for freedom. Time has come for EU countries to uphold Iranian people’s hunger for a new and free nation. It no doubt benefits them in the long run.
