dani power limited has set up a power plant at Mundra with a total capacity of 4620MW. It has a power purchase agreement (PPA) with GUVNL (Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited) and two other Haryana utilities ( UHBVNL and DHBVNL) to provide power at levelised tariff of INR 2.3495 per unit ( INR 1 per unit capacity charge and INR 1.3495 non-escalable energy charges). Similarly Tata power has bagged Mundra UMPP (4000MW) based on imported coal from Indonesia at a very competitive tariff of INR 2.26 per unit. Mundra UMPP has to supply power to 5 states.

he much anticipated underground line of Chennai Metro Rail opened for the public on the 14th May, making the city the fourth in the country to launch such a facility after Kolkata, Delhi and Bengaluru. The line will cover a distance of eight kilometres from Nehru Park to Koyambedu, through tunnels and seven underground stations, to connect the already operational line at Koyambedu.

On 4th May, the Bombay High Court apart from upholding the conviction of 11 persons for gang rape and murder convicted seven people including 5 policemen and 2 doctors for destruction of evidence and non-performance of duties. In total, 18 persons were held guilty for the dastardly crime that continues to haunt the public conscience of the country.
