The gun is a symbol. It represents in theory narcissism, shaming anxiety, a syndrome of alienation and shaming. Cultural obscurity and politics. It also represents a fear of dying, being seen as weak and vulnerable without it.

Gathered within the European Trade Union Confederation, we, trade union leaders of Europe, want to launch an appeal and propose a Social Compact for Europe.

25 November is the anniversary of the United Nations « Declaration on the Elimination of All Forms of Intolerance and Discrimination Based on Religion or Belief. »  The Declaration was proclaimed on 25 November 1981 and began by stating “Considering that one of the principles of the Charter of the United Nations is that of the dignity and equality inherent in all human beings, and that all Member States have pledged themselves to take joint and separate action in co-operation with the Organization to promote and encourage universal respect for and observation of human rights and fundamental freedoms for all, without distinction as to race, sex, language or religion.”

I wonder why there has never been a revolution of women? Why have women, as a group of people who are habitually oppressed, never as a collective rebelled against their oppressors? This remains a mystery to me. It cannot all be explained by ideology and culture and norms, which restrict us. Because these same norms have been applied to other oppressed peoples, such as Afro-Americans and others.
